Grant opportunities for Ukrainian business

Ukraine is becoming increasingly active in attracting grants to develop a wide range of projects. In recent years there has been growing interest among international and local organisations in providing financial support for initiatives aimed at developing the social, economic and cultural spheres. In this article we look at some of the most relevant grant opportunities available to Ukrainian organisations and businesses.

1. Seeds of Bravery - a project supporting Ukrainian innovative tech start-ups, to which the EU has allocated €20 million

The organisers provide grants of up to €60,000 to Ukrainian start-ups. Applicants are offered leadership programmes and entrepreneurial education, and are given market research and introductions to investors. Particular attention is paid to developing women's tech entrepreneurship.

2. Support for healthcare reform from USAID

Budget: up to $1,000,000. An announcement of an Open Grant Programme for civil-society representatives (including non-governmental academic institutions, think tanks and/or professional associations), patient organisations and advocacy groups, healthcare facilities and community-level organisations.

3. The USAID programme "Competitive Economy of Ukraine" announces a grant programme to support the development of Ukrainian medium-sized and large processing enterprises

Budget: $10 million. Around 30 grants of between $150,000 and $500,000 will be awarded under the programme. The grant programme will support Ukrainian medium-sized and large processing enterprises in activities that help expand production, create new innovative products and modernise. The aim of the initiative is to create new jobs in Ukraine and increase sales of goods on both domestic and foreign markets.

4. The USAID programme "Justice for All" announces its Annual Grant Programme

Budget: 25 grants totalling approximately UAH 55,000,000. The USAID programme "Justice for All" announces the start of intake for grant-project concepts aimed at strengthening the justice system and its services, and at engaging civil society in developing workable solutions to legal problems and meeting Ukrainians' needs for justice.

5. UNDP announces a grant to improve access to justice for veterans and their family members

This project aims to ensure the provision of free legal aid to veterans and their family members in Sumy oblast, to collect statistical information, and to prepare an analytical report on the legal needs of the grant project's target group.

6. GRANTS FOR MEDIUM-SIZED AND LARGE BUSINESSES "INVESTMENT FOR BUSINESS RESILIENCE" USAID

Budget: up to $2,000,000. The USAID project "Investment for Business Resilience" (formerly known as the USAID "Financial Sector Reform" project), in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, announces a Request for Concepts for the use of grant funds from Ukrainian enterprises that need support to secure business growth, in particular to increase sales, scale up exports and create new jobs.

7. SMALL GRANTS FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE PROJECTS - EUROPEAN HERITAGE HUB

Budget: Small projects - grants from €2,000 to €10,000. Medium projects - grants from €10,000 to €30,000. Large projects - grants from €30,000 to €50,000. The European Heritage Hub project, co-financed by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of 20 partners led by Europa Nostra, is launching a Small Grants Scheme to support cultural-heritage protection projects in the EU's neighbouring countries. The initiative is supported by the ALIPH Foundation. The European Heritage Hub Small Grants Scheme aims to encourage and empower heritage stakeholders from 11 countries neighbouring the European Union (Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Ukraine) to become active participants in the wider European heritage movement, strengthening their capacity to respond to Europe's green, digital and social transformation.

8. GRANT SUPPORTING THE RECONSTRUCTION OF UKRAINE - DEVELOPPP

Budget: €2,000,000. Financial support for companies ready to seek business opportunities in Ukraine and take part in its reconstruction despite the challenges of wartime - this is the aim of the competition held under the funding programme of Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Funding will be allocated through a competition of business ideas. There are no restrictions on submission deadlines or on the number of winners: all project proposals received will be reviewed, and the most promising and relevant ones will receive funding.

9. GRANT FOR YOUR OWN BUSINESS, THE GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME eROBOTA

Budget: FROM UAH 50,000 TO UAH 250,000. The eRobota grant programmes are effective state support for recovery, for starting your own business from scratch, for delivering ambitious projects, generating new jobs and acquiring the skills the labour market needs.

10. THE SEEDS OF BRAVERY PROGRAMME FOR UKRAINIAN TECH START-UPS

Budget: UP TO €60,000. Seeds of Bravery is a project with a budget of €20 million, funded by the European Union under the European Innovation Council (EIC) to support Ukrainian tech start-ups and bring them closer to the EU. The fund's mission is to strengthen Ukraine's tech landscape by supporting local entrepreneurs in achieving international success.
