A selection of grants to bring your projects to life: a chance for change

Have you always dreamed of carrying out your project but don't have enough resources? Are you looking for opportunities to secure a grant from various sources? Then this selection is for you! We have gathered the most current grant opportunities from various organisations that support a wide range of initiatives, from mutual-aid groups to cultural projects and recovery programmes. Read more about each grant in our selection!

1) Grants for mutual-aid groups from the NGO "Southern Development Strategy"

Who it's for:

• community foundations, municipal institutions and community enterprises;

• CSOs and charitable organisations that carry out projects in target communities and have stable relationships with them;

• agricultural and consumer cooperatives, trade unions;

• unregistered citizens' initiatives.

Geography: Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts.

The project's goal is to flexibly support the needs of mutual-aid groups in affected, liberated and frontline communities.

Proposed initiatives may include, but are not limited to, the following ideas:

• meeting housing needs at the household level;

• small projects to restore or develop local infrastructure;

• launching new or developing existing social, administrative and utility services in communities;

• non-formal education for adults and young people;

• rapid response to emergencies caused by military action.

Selected projects will also receive a partnership support package:

• online mentoring support from the organisation's specialists;

• participation in the off-site partners' school.

An information session for potential project participants will take place on 22.01.2024 at 12:00; registration for it is mandatory via the link.

Grant size: $10,000

2) Grant competition "Brave Ideas" within the USAID "Dream and Act" programme

Who it's for: CSOs, charitable organisations, youth civil society organisations and organisations that implement youth initiatives (YCSOs), Ukrainian representative offices of international organisations, registered as legal entities in Ukraine and holding non-profit status.

Potential applicants are encouraged to go beyond standard ideas and submit:

• bold, innovative and creative projects that match the stated goals and priorities of the "Dream and Act" programme;

• and that foster the development of the potential of young people aged 10-35 and are carried out on territory controlled by the Government of Ukraine.

Preference will be given to new approaches to meeting young people's needs and to innovative solutions based on the principles of positive youth development and taking into account a gender-equality and social-inclusion approach.

Grant size: from $25,000 to $80,000

Deadline: 27.05.2024 by 23:59 Kyiv time. Applications will be reviewed regularly, every two months, and once after the final application deadline.

3) Grant competitions from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation

1) SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE RECOVERY OF CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC ACTIVITY

Who it's for: individuals, citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of 18 and carry out their professional activity in the relevant sectors of culture and the creative industries, and who operate on the territory of Ukraine.

Goals of the programme:

• to help restore the cultural and artistic activity of artists and cultural figures who were forced to scale down or completely stop their work;

• to support artists who suffered as a result of the military actions of the Russian Federation and to give them opportunities to carry out cultural and artistic activity;

• to support the activity of artists and cultural figures who carry out cultural and artistic work aimed at countering the informational and cultural component of Russian military aggression and covering wartime themes.

Scholarship size: from UAH 50,000 to UAH 200,000

Deadline: 15.01.2024 by 18:00 Kyiv time

2) RECOVERY OF CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC ACTIVITY

Who it's for: a legal entity or sole proprietor registered in Ukraine for at least 1 year as of the start date of the competitive selection and with relevant experience in the field of culture.

Goals of the programme:

• promoting the recovery of cultural and artistic activity through supporting current cultural and artistic projects;

• promoting the implementation of cultural and artistic projects aimed at countering the informational and cultural component of Russian military aggression;

• supporting cultural and artistic projects aimed at raising the morale of the Defenders of Ukraine;

• supporting the heroic struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression.

Grant size: from UAH 400,000 to UAH 1,000,000

Deadline: 19.02.2024

4) Creative Europe: European cooperation projects

The chance to receive up to a million euros for a cultural project created in cooperation by at least three organisations from 40 countries around the world. It may relate to several areas of the culture and creative industries at once, or be interdisciplinary.

Who it's for:

- those who represent the culture and creative industries sector;

- those who are a legal entity (a sole proprietor is also eligible);

- those who have been officially registered for more than two years in Ukraine, the EU, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, Norway, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Tunisia or Turkey.

What will I receive?

If your team has three to four organisations from different countries, up to €200,000, which will cover 80% of the costs.

If your team has five to nine organisations from different countries, up to €1,000,000, which will cover 70% of the costs.

Deadline: 23 January 2024.

5) Grant programme "Instrumental" supporting academic musicians who suffered during the full-scale invasion, from KCMD

Who it's for: professionals in the field of academic music (performers, composers, musicologists, teachers, sound engineers, etc.) aged 18 and over who have proven experience in professional academic music in recent years.

The programme will help academic musicians who suffered during the full-scale invasion to purchase musical instruments.

Areas of funding:

• purchasing a new or used musical instrument;

• repairing an existing musical instrument;

• restoring, maintaining or improving an existing musical instrument;

• purchasing accessories for an existing musical instrument.

Applications may be submitted both individually and by a group, with justification of the need to purchase a musical instrument.

Grant size: up to €5,200

Deadline: 15.01.2024 by 23:59 Kyiv time

6) Educational programme "You Matter" from UShPS

An educational programme for military personnel who want to take an active part in socio-political processes, who want to realise themselves in the field of public administration and the civil service, or who see themselves in other fields.

Who it's for: servicewomen, female volunteers, female veterans.

Topics of the training blocks: leadership, the fundamentals of democracy and the rule of law, successful governance, key reforms in Ukraine and Euro-Atlantic integration, reforming the security and defence sector, reintegration into civilian life.

Training format: 3 days of offline training in Kyiv.

Benefits for participants:

• a values-based community of servicewomen;

• new knowledge and skills;

• mentoring support.

7) Grant competition "Strengthening public participation in early recovery processes in liberated territories"

Who it's for: CSOs.

Geography: Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Programme goal: strengthening cooperation between citizens and local authorities within the activities of local self-government bodies on early recovery, which involves engaging citizens.

Competition priorities:

• restoring state services identified as priorities for the community;

• restoring public services in the sphere of culture and sport in war-affected territories;

• planning local self-government recovery processes and conveying the community's early-recovery priorities to the authorities;

• processes to improve public protection;

• providing priority social services;

• establishing interaction with the state emergency services.

Within the competition, priority will mainly be given to projects aimed at creating and supporting the operation of public participation hubs in communities as platforms for establishing dialogue and cooperation between citizens, local self-government bodies and other stakeholders.
