The success story of AI Baby Tales, or innovation for the youngest

If a dream seems out of reach, it means the time has come to find the right tools to make it happen. That tool proved to be the Impactpreneurship 2.0 program. It is a platform where ideas take shape, dreams turn into plans, and plans become real projects capable of changing lives. One of the most striking success stories of the Impactpreneurship 2.0 course is the AI Baby Tales team from the Dnipropetrovsk region. Their path to creating an innovative mobile app that uses artificial intelligence to generate personalized fairytales for children is an example of how an idea can be transformed into a powerful instrument of social impact.

How did it all begin? Team captain Anastasiia Marchenko learned about the Impactpreneurship 2.0 course from her PR instructor and decided to join in order to find the tools to turn her idea into a real project. The idea was born from personal experience: her nephew had no interest at all in reading and was instead captivated by various videos on his phone. This inspired her to create a digital product with personalized content that matches a specific child's interests and preferences and encourages reading through a familiar modern tool, a mobile phone or tablet.

The team was formed after an analysis of needs, and so it came to include a mobile app developer, an interface designer, and an animation specialist. In total, the team has three permanent specialists and one who is brought in as needed.

The team captain noted: "What makes our project unique is the feature that generates fairytales based on children's drawings. There are no comparable apps on the market." When we asked Anastasiia how their project addresses the community's pressing problems, she highlighted several key aspects. The team aims to create a comfortable environment for children from families of internally displaced persons who are experiencing stress due to displacement. The project also provides access to education and creative opportunities for children with disabilities, opening up new horizons for their development. The unique fairytales created with the app can become an effective therapeutic tool for psychologists, helping children overcome emotional and psychological difficulties. And most importantly, the app gives all children equal access to modern technology, regardless of their particular circumstances, financial situation, or life conditions. The team has a touching motto: "Where every child's imagination finds its voice."

Participation in the Impactpreneurship 2.0 program was a turning point for the team members. During the training, they completed the creation of an MVP, developed a detailed fundraising strategy, set up business processes, and secured their first partner. Their greatest achievement was receiving a grant from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine, which made it possible to implement the first stages of the project. According to Anastasiia, the program gave the team not only knowledge and tools but also confidence in their own abilities. Mentor support, interactive lectures, and hands-on practice helped the participants refine their ideas and communicate them more effectively.

Anastasiia also shared the most enjoyable moments of the Impactpreneurship 2.0 course. At one of the live meetings with mentor Yuliia Markhel, the lecture turned into a real celebration. "We laughed almost the entire lecture! The information was presented so vividly and energetically that even complex topics became easy to grasp." It was a moment when learning brings not only benefit but genuine pleasure, the captain recalls. This episode shows that even the serious challenges of building social entrepreneurship can be overcome with a smile and a positive attitude.

Anastasiia also spoke in detail about the risks the AI Baby Tales team may face during the project's implementation and about how to overcome them. The main challenges include:

1. Loss of access due to power outages or infrastructure problems. To minimize these, the team has provided for the use of backup power (generators, uninterruptible power supplies), the deployment of local copies of the service for offline operation, and switching to cloud servers with backup infrastructure that does not depend on the local power grid.

2. Loss of connection to the servers or problems with the Internet. To solve this, the team has set up backup communication channels, including mobile Internet and VPN, planned the deployment of offline versions of the app or its core features, and the option of redirecting server requests to backup servers.

Thanks to these steps, the developers are prepared to withstand challenges and can guarantee the stable operation of their product regardless of external circumstances.

It is worth noting that in the future the team plans to expand the app's functionality, launch an iOS version, and enter the European market. In addition, marketing activities, the development of a website, and scaling through partnerships with educational and psychological institutions are planned.

Based on their experience of taking part in the Impactpreneurship 2.0 program, the team advises future participants of similar programs to clearly define their project's mission, to be flexible and open to new ideas, and to make full use of all the mentor support available. The team captain's main message: "Don't be afraid to dream and to bring your ideas to life. Your courage is the start of positive change in society."
